You didn't expect to feel this stuck.

Maybe something big and unexpected knocked you off course, and the ways you used to cope just aren't holding anymore. Or maybe you've been carrying a low, steady overwhelm for a while now, and you're tired of white-knuckling your way through it.

Often the hardest part is feeling like the people around you don't quite get it.

You're not looking for someone to fix you. You're looking for someone who gets it without a lengthy backstory, so you can stop explaining and start feeling better.

A place to be understood, then get to work.

I'm Alan, a licensed therapist and a gay, queer-identified man. I help LGBTQ+ folx across Los Angeles work through anxiety, grief, substance use, and the life transitions that can leave you feeling lost. We start where you are, no performance required.

Why it matters

Why it matters to work with a therapist who shares your lived experience

When your therapist is part of the community, you spend less time explaining and more time actually working.

I've spent my whole career alongside gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans, and queer folx. I understand the specific weight of things like coming out, family rejection, and the quiet toll of moving through a world that wasn't built for you.

That context is where we start. It's not something you'll have to teach me first.

How to begin

Three steps. No pressure.

1

Book a Free Consultation

A short, no-pressure 15-minute conversation to see if we're a good fit before you commit to anything.

2

We Talk It Through

You share what's going on. I listen, ask questions, and we figure out together what the work looks like.

3

Begin the Work

We meet in person at my Hollywood or West Hollywood office, or online anywhere in California.

You're already trying

You've probably already tried to handle this on your own

You've read the self-help. You've told yourself to just push through. And you're still here, which takes more courage than it usually gets credit for.

Imagine having someone by your side who helps you notice what's hard to see alone, make sense of what's behind you, and move through what's in front of you with a little more room to breathe.

Common questions

A few things people usually want to know

I'm an out-of-network provider. Sessions are $200, and I can give you a superbill to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Sliding-scale slots are sometimes available. Learn more about rates and insurance.

A lot of my clients come in having tried therapy that didn't quite fit. Working with someone who gets your lived experience changes what's possible. The free consultation is a low-pressure way to feel that out before you commit to anything.
